Description
Playing Mass Effect, have you ever thought what happens during and immediately after those transitions from a mission back to the ship? Sometimes we get to see conversations in the shuttle and follow-up scenes back on the ship, but I don't think we get to see the team unloading from the shuttle inside the ship (please correct me if I'm wrong).
That got me thinking: what could happen on that moment where you're safely back on the ship and you can finally drop your guard. After all the fighting that could be the first moment where it all hits you, all the fighting, killing, dying... it can't be easy to cope with. I figure professional soldiers all have their ways of dealing with it and not showing it, at least on duty. But with the additional weight of the whole galaxy on Shepard's shoulders it may be impossible to keep it all bottled up all the time.
Maybe this could be a perfect opportunity for Shepard to allow herself to "break down", at least a little bit. How easy it would be to make up an excuse for saying a bit longer in the shuttle. How easy it would be to put away your weapons and sit down on the hard metal floor under the cold lights. How easy it would be to bury your face to your hands and let it all out... just a little private moment of weakness, no one needs to know.
